ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) is a digital
phone/data that makes use of digital signals running along
existing copper lines to increase the data throughput, reduce
line noise and enhance signal quality hence providing highly
reliable dedicated speeds of 64 or 128 Kbps (Kilo Bits per
second).
The single line service also makes it possible to send and
receive voice and data simultaneously on the same phone line.
You can surf the Internet sending and receiving e-mails while
being on a voice call or sending a fax at the same time.
In order to use ISDN service to access the Internet, you must
have the following:
- An ISDN phone line
- An ISDN terminal adapter and/or an ISDN modem
- A subscription with Cyberia
Benefits and Advantages
When a 64 kbps bandwidth is used for Internet, you can still
make telephone calls on the other channel, which is a big
advantage, since Internet connections are likely to occupy the
line for very long duration. In addition, ISDN provides the
following benefits:
- Single connection can support both voice and data.
- High quality services being digital right from the
subscriber’s, premises.
- Eight terminals can be connected on a single line.
- High-speed data transfer from PC to PC is possible – 64
or 128 Kbps.
- Two calls can be established simultaneously on a single
pair of wires.
- The call set time is very short (1-2 seconds).
- Reduction in phone bills due to faster download speeds
Price
The ISDN connection can be made at 64 Kbps (1 channel) or at
